Loved Canazei. For me most slopes were easily skiable except initially for the more challenging reds and on the Sella Ronda Clockwise - some aspects of the red runs approaching and around Arabba. Take cash with you to the mountain restaurants as not all accept cards. Check and double check the run routes before and during your run (not always clearly signed). Great run back to the north end of town but be careful of other skiers as it narrows greatly during the last 200 metres or so.…

I love the breathtaking beauty of the place, with lovely and varied tree-lined runs coupled with stunning views of Mont-Blanc and surrounding peaks. There are many nice huts to eat in on the mountain; we liked the Mont Joux and the 2 places in Les Communailles, particularly. That said, as in almost every French resort, food and drink are a tad expensive. Whilst Tonale offers lots for the beginner and improver on the wide open mountainside slopes, those wanting more challenging skiing in some nice tree lined runs should use the linked resort areas of Ponte de Legno and Temu which is mostly all reds and blacks. This for me was the best skiing available in resort, the black run from the glacier is also quite good fun as was the initial red at the top of the glacier but Temu and Ponte were better and had charm and character.
