While Filzmoos does not have an enormous ski area there are several other resorts just down the valley that are included on your lift pass and my 2 favourites are Zauchensee and Flachauwinkl, both of which give you access to a large linked area. Les Carroz is a fantastic skiing area, just one hour from the airport, so beat that. 250+ km of slopes that are well groomed. The village itself is charming and friendly with enough restaurants and small bars to keep you going. Despite the low snow levels this year the skiing is excellent with the pistes being kept superbly. Great snow making machines so invariably abundant snow throughout the Grand Massif.

St. Johann has some of the best beginners/intermediate terrain around in Austria. What I really like is that there is an area to the east side of the mountain (Eichenhof) which has no snowmaking so the snow quality is excellent whilst temperatures are low. And as the lifts on that side are mostly T-bars it is much quieter.
