The most beautiful slopes is the catchword they use here to describe the location. I consider that true to a great extent. During our stay the slopes were always well-prepared. The quality was better than for the nearby Planai/Schladming ski resort. The slopes under Almlift and HofiExpress are ideal for beginners and children, the only downside is need to use narrow connecting ways to get there. Numerous hutten for lunch with good service.

Les Contamines is one of those hidden gems in the Alps. Very quiet, even in school holidays and excellent snow. Great for family and groups. Not extreme at all with plenty of wide open pistes, but also plenty of off piste if you know where to go. Add to that the fact you can take a little train ride over to Les Houches in the Chamonix valley for a cracking day out makes this a great place to stay.

Most runs in Sauze are classified as red (although some will seem more like blacks) and are fairly short, with the exception of run 12 - so youll probably ski the same ones over and over again. Once youve mastered the area you can venture out towards Sestriere or Montgenevre/Claviere in the other direction. With a Vialattea pass youll have access to 400km of interlinked pistes so there is huge area to explore!
