My partner and I went to Leogang over new year 2005-2006. I have skied quite a lot before but for him it was all new. The nursery slopes by main Leogang gondola are absolutely fine. He was whizzing down them after a couple of days. I would however off a slight word of caution to beginners considering Leogang for a weeks holiday. Just returned from a week beginning 28th December. Despite unusually poor snow conditions for the time of year I cant praise the ski area enough. There are extensive long runs served by the most efficient and comfortable lifts I have so far experienced in the Alps. The total kilometres feels longer than that stated because it is not padded with lots of the tedious linking blue tracks that you find in many resorts. Courmayeur is a fantastic resort. There is something there for everyone. Although the beginners area is a little steeper than normal, as soon as your up and about there, there are endless runs to explore. Two tips, one down the back of the hill is Zerotta, great couple of restaurants with amazing views of Mont Blanc and really nice runs down.
