Top-rated ski resort reviews

I went to Sestriere in January 06 and found a huge ski-area called Via Lattea (The Milky Way). It consisted of several Italian villages and one village in France. The skirarena is not very well connected; you have to take a bus to get from one area to the other. I have to say that I think the beginners slopes in Sestriere are very good - with several button lifts feeding an incredibly wide slope. Then there are some lovely wide easy blues down to the gondola to Sauze with fast lifts…

Really good resort lots of terrian and nearly all fast quads lifts, except some t-bars in the smaller parts of the resort. the set-up is a bit bitty with one ski area at each end of town with a trip down the hill, across on the bus, then up again to get from one to the other. am told there is some off-piste but wasnt the right time of year for me with the snow conditions. lively night life too with chamie bar and then ex-bar taking you through to morning (literally).

Together with Vars it offers a great variety of pistes, and nice off-piste slopes. The snow conditions were quite OK (50-120cms), the temperatures were just around 0 celsius. The connections among the pistes are praising as well. Risoul is quite small, but very pleasant. You can ski to the door of most apartments (a great advantage after a days hard skiing!!). Apres ski is great with many activities, partying is fantastic especially chez Jeti bar.
