What Davos excels at is the sheer number of mountains to ski. What lets Davos down is the sheer number of drag lifts across the entire resort. The mountains Pischa, Madrisa and Rinerhorn are, once you've got off the gondola at the middle station, exclusively T-bar, which is a shame if you're a snowboarder or you have small children that are still learning (and, if like me, you don't want to just pack 'em off to ski school but would actually like to have them around on what is your family holiday). These are 3 excellent mountains that offer fantastic skiing/boarding but which are ultimately let down by their archaic lift systems.
Which leaves you Jakobshorn and Parsenn. Again, too many

I flew into Zurich and hopped on the train to Davos Platz (my first time without pre arranged transfers) the train journey was very straight forward and a lot cheaper than paying for transfers. Upon arrival the conditions were excellent, no lift queues and pistes were clear. Off the slope, I found Davos to have something different to the purpose built French resorts. Plenty of things to do and see, I can recommend 'eau la la' swimming baths/spa's etc... Very reasonable and close to the centre of Davos Platz where I was staying with Synergy. Apres is ok and plenty of bars to keep entertained in the evening. The usual sledging, night skiing, Ice skating etc. all offered. I'd recommend Davos to

The slopes are divided into 5 non-connected areas; one has to take a bus or a train to get from one to another. Three of these areas are small and can be easily done in a half-day each; only two main areas are worth staying longer time: Jakobshorn and Parsenn. Runs are mostly blue and red, suitable for a beginner/intermediate level. Very few black runs - an advanced/expert skier will be bored after 2-3 days, unless he mostly skies off-piste. Lifts are mostly old-fashioned and slow, one needs to spend quite some time to get from one place to another. Connection between various runs is via long and boring blue/green traverses. Prices - both in town and on the slopes - are by far the highest we
