Our mixed group of friends and family had a fantastic time, the children were really happy in the ski school which was much more caring than larger more commercial resorts we've been to, the intermediates were particularly well catered for ample blues and reds, the more advanced skiers took advantage of the Aosta valley lift pass which includes two days in other resorts and spent a day in Courmayeur and Cervinia. First time skiing in Austria. Our week started with no snow at all as the resort is low lying but later on there was plenty of snow. Most of the runs were reds and my goodness were they steep. I wouldn't say this resort is suitable for the beginner/early intermediate as there was only 2 blue runs open and they were both nervously icy and one was pretty narrow with areas of extreme steepness. Scheffau is one of Austria's biggest ski resort. You can ski for days and hardly ski the same piste twice. The lift system is excellent, hardly a tow in sight and almost never a lift queue of more than a couple of minutes. It is a boarders paradise with no tows and loads of areas to play in.
