This is quite unknown to Brits, since you have to pass the mega-monster resorts of Alp d'Huez, Les Deux Alpes etc to get here so it tends to get overlooked. It's popular with the French, and for good reason - its a nice tidy couple of resorts (Super Devoluy is quite ugly, 60s, La Joue du Loup is a little more pituresque). Valmeinier has enough skiing with the link to Valloire for most appetites and is very pretty. The skiing is good and there is enough for all but the most enthusiastic of mile cruncher. The pistes colour coding was ‘interesting’ with Reds as easy as Greens and all similar to the Blues. The Blacks were few and far between but challenging. Fieberbrunn is good for beginners with over 3 ski schools. Otherwise mainly blue and red runs so best for intermediates. The resort is quite spread out and there is a very slow chairlift to the top of the mountain. Consequently you can spend a lot more time on lifts and putting skis on than skiing itself. There is a good bus service that links to the other resorts nearby and Kitzbuhel is just down the road. Not the place to go if you are after nightlife but great for families.
