La Mongie is one of the two entrances to the Domaine Du Tourmalet ski area, the other is Bareges. La Mongie is above the tree-line, whereas Bareges has tree-lined runs. The runs are very beautiful. It is a great resort for up to advanced skiers, experts may find the runs limited - unless they decide to go off-piste. The off-piste skiing is amazing as there are almost no restrictions. We thought the resort was quite hard for beginners but intermediates and advanced skiing is excellent. It is great for a short break. We loved the Crystal repa and the nightlife and everyone was so friendly. Courmayeur is a charming town. We will be going back for sure

The pistes are perfect for beginners and intermediates and it's a great place to learn to board. Ellmau is part of the Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser, but it is not the best starting point. The town is lovely and picturesque - perfect for romantic evenings for two! Also, a very good resort for young families.
