Pila has had a lot of investment since my last vist in 2006, new cable car to Aosta. Snow conditions fantastic, best for 20 years according to locals, 250cm at top, 150cm in village, had more snow on Xmas day, rest of time was sunny, but very cold on Fri and Sat, -10 both days, Stunning views from Mont Blanc to Matterhorn. Neustift is a good venue for early season skiing due to the glacier but not enough for a weeks skiing. If you are a complete beginner there are probably much better places to learn. On the mountain the lifts and restaurants were very efficient with very short queues, but this could be due to the time of year. The village was very quiet, not buzzing with much nightlife at all. The hotel bar situated at the foot of the Stubai glacier seemed a good place to start the apres ski.

I have visited here many times and at different stages of the season. As a pre-Christmas destination, it is hard to beat being so high snow sure. but can suffer drifting and bare patches of ice due to the exposed nature of the resort. I been before Christmas twice and have managed to ski all four valleys on both occasions - empty runs, no queues - what a treat.
