A delightful resort, often overlooked by the Brits. Good skiing for intermediates, and family orientated. This resort is great for little kids. Very caring lifties who will slow down chairs for little-ins and even help them on. Chamrousse is not a resort for hectic apres-ski, but has a few bars and delightful restaurants. Damuls is a great little resort with a surprising amount of terrain considering the small 700m vertical *** with pistes spread across three valleys. Most runs are intermediate with a few steeper slopes but all pistes are wide and smooth and offer great riding. Some good little off-piste runs situated under the main six man lift (6SB Hasenbuhel), just remember to stay left of the steep gorge and also just off the rope tow (Gratlift Sunnegg). Bardonecchia has an excellent choice of blue and red runs and a reliable ski bus service linking the various areas. We were very impressed by the overall management of the resort and catering facilities close to the pistes were also good. When the Turin crowd arrived at the weekend, we made for the more demanding slopes at Jaffereau, which were much quieter. This is an excellent budget resort. Bardonecchia has not much to offer itself, besides skiing. It keeps you busy for some time.
