The village is pretty and affluent; the hotels mostly seem to be 3* or 4* types. There were lots of kids on the slopes during our stay, and the village/ area seems to target families with youngish children. We only had a day skiing so we limited ourselves mostly to the Serfaus ski area. You can link to the other ski areas (Fiss and Ladis) from Serfaus, but you have to return to the main gondolas and get the Sunliner gondola, rather than cutting across mid mountain which is slight…

Les Carroz is a large friendly village with mostly self-catering accommodation and some nice little shops. There are a range of restaurants but we had to book a couple of days ahead for a party of 5. No other nightlife in evidence so party animals may like to go elsewhere but there are some nice bars, like Marlows. We had our first skiing holiday in Lech during the first week of February 2008. My husband and I are your typical intermediate skiers but it was our first proper skiing holiday with our kids, aged 9 and 6. The holiday was a massive success and one of the reasons for this was the brilliant kids' ski school in Lech. The instructors were really friendly and spoke perfect English.
