Went here january 2002. much smaller then we expected and not as pretty either (though of course this is relative as all austria is pretty). we stayed in the gotthard hotel (4*) and thought this was excellent, room, food, service, boot room etc and not far from lifts. the skiing here is very good and even i (a timid intermediate) managed to ski the circular route via zurs. snow was in good condition and what i liked was that there were very few drag lifts and lots of chairs. apre-ski…

The best ski resort that i have stayed in so far. it has excellent ski slopes, snow parks and ski clubs for children. it is situated near courchevel so you can easily catch one chair up and then you can ski the same slopes you can ski at courchevel without paying all the extra cost for accomodation that you would have to pay if you were staying in courchevel. la tania may not have as many shops and pubs as there are in courchevel but there is still plenty to do and there is a…

Couchevel is a playground for skiers and boarders - literally hundreds of runs to try out and can ski straight down into meribel or over to val thorens for even more choice. you can spend a fortnight here and never ski the same run twice! snow was great when we first arrived but blue skies and sun all week so got quite icy. still, not bad for early season.
