The local ski area covers the resort of Marilleva (probably the ugliest ski station I've encountered). The skiing area can be greatly increased by buying the extended Madonna pass or the Bretna Skirama lift pass. I would describe the skiing as on the easy side of intermediate with little in the way of real challenge. The area suffers from a couple of bottle necks and old 2 man chairlifts. The slopes at Argentiere were good, not as long as in some places but the reds and blacks were excellent. Would not recommend for beginners. Made use of the Mont Blanc unlimited lift pass to have a day in Courmayeur and a day in Verbier as well as visiting Le Tour, Les Houches and Brevant-Flegere. Brevant-Flegere was fine but given its south facing position got slushy very quickly so only did half a day. Les Houches was possibly the best area with long runs, especially a great red on…

Had a great week in Val Thorens with excellent piste conditions; well groomed and cared for. Prices are catching up with the rest of the Three Valleys but you can still get a beer for EUR 5 if you look around, cheaper if you can get deals through your travel co. The Scandanavians and Dutch were noisy, but its all good humoured and they provide the best bar nightlife. This is a great resort with vast amounts of skiing.
