La Plagne probably once worked rather well as a resort but not so much any more. I have visted a number of the resorts that make up the La Plagne ski area and have noticed it getting more and more busy each year. My family have been going to Bansko for 4 years so far. The first two times were in the half-term. There were huge queues in the morning but once up the mountain as long as you have all lifts working full capacity you get no queues up at the top. The waiting isn\'t as long in the alpine resorts than in Bansko, but it seems far, far longer as all the queues are all condensed into one area. With the town it is being made better every year. Ischgl is ranked among the top ski destinations in Austria. Have to say I still do not know why. The slopes are nice for intermediates at best. It does not offer much variety, nor very exciting long descends. Ischgl is prone to strong winds and which make the lifts not very reliable. On Alp Trida clouds can result in poor visibility.
