Bankso is affordable, charming, offers a great selection of inviting beginners slopes and is serviced by a renowned ski school. Accommodation ranges from budget chalets to luxury hotels, and the beautiful town centre - which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site - lends itself to a more relaxed and non-pretentious apres ski scene.

A good beginner resort but not much for experts. Also if book the Kempinski hotel next to the Bansko slope your in for real luxury, Im sure if your not the most confident skiier you may enjoy your time in the Sauna.

The ski resort lacks black slopes, I belive It has 1 black slope atleast when I went there, also the Gondola lift is very over crowded in the morning, and its the only lift up the mountin so get in there early or wait for the que to pass. Locals arn't friendly or paitent either, but the Ski instructors are friendly and helpfull.

I learnt to ski here, Its a small resort which suited my needs and my ski instructor was a Bulgarian olympic skier so there was plenty of experien

My family have been going to Bansko for 4 years so far. The first two times were in the half-term. There were huge queues in the morning but once up the mountain as long as you have all lifts working full capacity you get no queues up at the top. The waiting isn't as long in the alpine resorts than in Bansko, but it seems far, far longer as all the queues are all condensed into one area. With the town it is being made better every year. Last year we went in Easter and most of the infrastructure was there and the place had been tidied up. They are also going to remove buildings that are mainly unbuilt and whose owners have gone bankrupt and done a runner. The resort area will be tidier every

We've just had some great skiing in Bansko. The mountain is quite small but there was plenty for a week and you can see how much scope there is for them to extend in the next few years. The old town was fascinating but there was quite a lot of building going on, luckily we were not staying anywhere near to that. The food was mixed - we had some fantastic meals, especially in the metikita, up the road from the gondola (I understand now why it was always so difficult to get a table) and we had a couple of awful meals in the more touristy restaurants- we should probably have asked for reccommendations! I have never been to a post-communist country before and on the whole was pleasantly surprise

Fantastic, small resort but the skiing is varied and there's a lot of off-piste available without much hiking. Pistes groomed very well, even when the resort was packed on New Years Eve, the little resort next door Dobrinishte was much quieter and is very very pretty. We had great food and service in Chalet Rozov and we loved the old town. I am planning another trip this year.
