I went to Gargellen in 2006 and decided to go back in 2007. I was originally disappointed last year with the lack of on-piste skiing, but now, i've found the magic of the place. It is all about Gargellen's off -piste and ski touring areas. I spent the week with a group and a guide and we skied some spectacular off piste . We have been to this resort 2 years on the trot and we intend to go back this season - it is brilliant. It has snowed both times we've been (lots). I have heard people say it's quiet, but you can go to Ibiza if you want wild night life, we still manage to get in at 3am so can't be that bad. Transfer time is 90 minutes and if you stay in the centre, only a quick walk to the gondala. As for the skiing; it's great! Have skied at La Tania on two occasions. The last was New Year 2006/2007 when the snow was supposed to be awful according to all the reports. I have to say the snow making facillaties made up for the lack of snow and the sheer variety of runs in the Trois Vallees meant that we had a superb week with generally good skiing. On the downside, if you want to explore the whole area, La Tania is a little bit out on a limb. Coming back from Val Thorens/Les Menuires can be a bit of a rush…
