Solden is a bit overrated in my opinion. It lacks the charm of a skiresort like Saalbach or Kirchberg where you can watch the skiers from downtown. Furthermore the ski area is not well interconnected. Besides the Giggijoch the slopes are a bit narrow. There are some challeging slopes but it does not offer the excitemant of Sankt Anton or Chamonix. It is not really suitable for beginners either. Hinterglemm is our favourite destination by far. The village is compact, and offers views on the slopes around. The skirarena is very large with many wide and scenic blue and red slopes. The liftanlages are modern, the are hardly any drag lifts left. The apres ski scene is one of the best in Austria!

Aussois is a small village resort. We enjoyed doorstep skiing at a fraction of the price we've paid at bigger resorts. The skiing was excellent but there are a limited number of slopes. The chairlift system is very good with no queues when we stayed.
