On the face of it saalbach-hinterglemm should be a great spot, a large varied ski area set above cosy alpine villages but for some reason it doesnt quite work for me. the way the lift network is set up means that everyone skis around the circuit which leads to queues. as others have mentioned the black down fron the zwolferkogel is not for the inexperienced but if you want to ski the circus in a clockwise fashion there is no alternative, many of the lower slope are south facing and often have poor snow. there are some good long reds and some nice restaurants but nothing outstanding.
