Popular ski resort reviews

I have been in Obergurgl 3 times for late snow and its been great but the area is a bit small. You can ski most of both areas in 3 days. The hotels are very good but food in the Edelweiss and Gurgl was just too much for us. It is a very pricey resort and the shops are expensive, the spar is a life saver as its really is the one shop for groceries. Lunchtime food and apres ski all priced sensibly. Just had a family holiday at Aminona. Skiing was great if you were up when the slopes opened but by lunch it was very slushy. Very relaxed resort compared to French resorts. Loved the Glacier run which provided a nice 5km run from the top. Winds did close the resort one day we were there but the next day provided great skiing on lovely powder. We did get a little bored of the runs by the end of the week but overall a great resort for intermediate skiers.

Just back after Feb/08 1/2 term. Group of 17 of us stayed at Hotel Alpenrose in Galtur with Inghams (would recommend) - bus stop outside; 5 mins to Wirl slopes, 10 mins to Ishgl. Wirl great for beginners and first day of holiday to get those ski legs working! Lovely wide slopes, nice restaurants and good ski school. Limited night life in Galtur but charming ten pin bowling at sports centre. Outside ice-skating rink in village - melting by end of week. Skiing in Ishgl starts at top…
