ust back from week in Obergurgl - clear blue sky for entire week, good quality snow after last fall on Feb 7th. Obergurgl is a good ski but limited ski area - myself and my 14-year-old (intermediate skiers but he's now better than me) had skied virtually the entire area by the 3rd day. We stayed in Hotel Crystal in Obergurgl. The hotel was lovely and the food was stunning. Staff were all very friendly, although the barman is a bit odd. The snow was good and facilities are great for newbies and intermediates, perhaps a bit limited for very serious skiers and boarders. Nightlife is non-existant. Bring all you need with you as the shops all seem to be owned by the same group and are pretty expensive. Lunchtime food and apres ski all priced sensibly. Everyone in my party…

to be honest i was a bit disapointed with this resort. The snow was quite good and kept in a lovely condition, but it was 14 degrees some days and very mushy in the village. The resort is a little smaller than we are used to and there is only one SPAR shop in the village. The runs are quite wide in places but narrow over bridges etc and I do not consider this a very good resort for learners at all. I was told Hochgurgl was a better area but not the powder bowl i was expecting. In fact…
