A small friendly resort with an excellent snow record, the village stands at 1584m with much of the skiing above the tree line. Whilst the ski area is relatively small it does not suffer from the crowds of some of the more, well known resorts. Have never skied in Italy before and found Itto be as picturesque as Austria but with the height of many of the French resorts. The locals were very friendly and going with three young children this made eating out a lot less stressfull. Our 6 and 8 year old did ski school which initially caused tears each morning but by the last day they decided that Elena was the best thing since sliced bread. Spent a week in Obergurgl from 3rd February. Lovely resort, quiet and charming. We stayed in the Hotel Bellvue. Great hotel if youve got kids, but not ideal if your a couple hoping for a quiet, romantic getaway. Hotel was practically ski to door(2 minute walk) which was great. The skiing was quite demanding, some of the blue runs were scary, especially the one back to the hotel. Really enjoyed blue run number 6 and red number 16.
