Latest ski resort reviews

Just returned from a week beginning 28th December. Despite unusually poor snow conditions for the time of year I cant praise the ski area enough. There are extensive long runs served by the most efficient and comfortable lifts I have so far experienced in the Alps. The total kilometres feels longer than that stated because it is not padded with lots of the tedious linking blue tracks that you find in many resorts. The variety of the terrain throughout Le Grand Massif is fantastic and the scope for off piste and its accessability looks outstanding. I would advise using a guide as we witnessed more avalanche debris on this trip than we had ever seen. Flaine itself is a bit sixties looking but from the mountain it blends in to the cliffs on that side of the valley. I got back a week ago after a week at this resort staying at Hotel Sauze. Skiing conditions were terrible due to lack of snow which of course they cant be blamed for. However I was not impressed with this resort. We lost a whole days skiing when all the lifts were closed due to high winds which I have not know in my 35 years of skiing.
