My stay in Flaine last year was excellent. The snow conditions were fantastic. I saw Flaine as a resort were beginners easily can learn to ski, as well for the advanced people, who gets steep red hills, and very dark black runs (like Diamant Noir, Gers). I also can recommend the off-piste, definitely in Combe de Gers. Concerning the lifts, Flaine is investing a lot in their infrastructure. Last year a new, fast 6 chairlift and the coming 2 years another 5 (3 Flaine, 2 Grand-massif). Nightlife is indeed not very great, but still you can have a good drink in several bars.
