We spent one week in the area and the slopes are very well maintained and the ski lifts are well covered in the whole area ski amade and so you can enjoy the skiing even in not very pleasant weather conditions. I consider the area as suitable mainly for good skiers - mainly red slopes. For children I recommend either Wagrain or Alpendorf where you can find many blue slopes and the red slopes are wide.

Few challenges for experts Wide slopes

The lift infra structure must be amongst the best there is with very few queues and access to other equally exciting linked areas was a doddle. There are literally hundreds of kilometers of linked slopes including Wagrain (yummy), Sauchensee (brilliant), Flachauwinkle (super) and others. Our hotel was B&B so we had to go into the village to eat. This is not a large place but there were plenty of places to dine with the steak at the 'Cobblers House' being my favourite. It is not a noisy or a loud resort and could fairly be described as quiet. Some of the drinking spots at the bottom of the slopes are very much louder and cater more for the hardened apre skier. If you love skiing, a quiet

“Snow Space Flachau” is one of the best family and novice ski resorts in the “Ski Amadé”. The 17 easy and intermediate slopes which are not very difficult in general guarantee families and beginners a diversified but safe skiing day. The lovely designed kid’s parks, increase chances that your kids may never want to leave. Especially the very modern lift facilities make sure you can tap the whole potential of the ski resort. Most of the descents can be accessed by six or eight passenger chair lifts (e.g. Space or Star Jet). However intermediate skiers and very skilled winter athletes we recommend the neighbouring ski resorts for their ski trip

Great area at centre of "Ski Amade", the largest single pass ski area in Austria (0ver 860km of runs, 270 lifts) . Not known in the UK and very underrated by British skiers, but well known among Germans, Dutch and Scandinavians. Great variety of slopes and more than enough directly above the village to keep most people busy for a week, and the huge Ski Amade area will keep the most adventurous happy. Best option is flight to Salzburg, which is only 40 mins away, by taxi or rental car. Munich is just over 2 hours. If you want to tour the surrounding area rental car best option, otherwise taxi from Salzburg is good. Ryanair, Thomsonfly and others now serving Salzburg make this a great combinat
