Wagrain is one of the villages near flachau, starting from wagrain has the great advantage that it is much quieter than the neighbor flachau. For beginners there are enough blue slopes and you can also make the crossing to flachau where the slopes are not very difficult. For the more advanced skier, I find the challenge somewhat limited. There are few black runs and the red runs are not very challenging. You can ski on the wide red slope to the village of flachau. For after skiing, the apress ski in Wagrain is very limited. You can have a beer outside at the bottom of the elevator, but then it actually ends. For the real apress ski you have to go to flachau, where they have several nice and busy tents on both valley slopes. The price in Wagrain is a plus, the accommodations are affordable and the restaurants in the village.

Loads of red and blue cruising runs. Short transfer – 1 hour from Salzburg. Everyone in resort was very friendly and helpful. Clearly a genuine local resort used by Austrians and Germans. Main run down from the Grafernberg to Wagrain is a great long run. The costs here were very reasonable. For 12 Euros you could get a large lunch with main course , dessert and drink., where the same in the 3 Valleys would cost at least 25 Euros. Cons: There are only a few really tough runs and given snow conditions when we were there off piste wasn’t really on the cards. Not mega for nightlife. Usual vigorous Austrian après ski starting at 4pm but tends to end by 6pm. We found 1 great late

Ive been skiing the wagrain area for more years than i care to remember, always with my wife, and usually with other friends as well. why do we return year after year? because its simply the best. the region has plenty of snow when other resorts are wanting. even at easter its possible to ski to the bottom. we found perfect unpisted powder above alpendorf last april - yes, april! with links to other villages in the sportwelt region theres plenty of variety and enough to keep the busiest skier happy for weeks. a bit limited for beginners maybe, but long gliding pistes for intermediates, a few challenging blacks and, if you know where to look, some fun off-piste challenges! other reasons for c
