Obergurgl is a lovely old fashioned traditional resort which is popular with families. Because the resort is high up conditions are mostly excellent, I think bad weather can be common and we had two days of quite heavy snow which made conditions challenging! I think the resort is best suited to people with a little experience or intermediates. The resort does cater for all abilities and is the antidote for the large, expensive, impersonal, busy French resorts. True, it is smaller but being twinned with la Thuile in Italy you get a good size ski area. The villiage is small and traditional and freindly. It is not great for boarders as the run over to La Thuile involves a very long drag lift. We went to Serfaus in March 2007. The village was ok aesthetically but the skiing is not that good. It's quite low and the slopes get a lot of Sun so the snow deteriorates fast. Most of the slopes are for intermediates although there's an ok amount of lift served off piste but it gets tracked out super fast. The dump we had on day 3 was tracked by day 3 and a half. If you're used to steep off piste then Pezid is the best lift served there is and it's not that steep. A 25 min hike will…
