Random ski resort reviews

Fantastic, small resort but the skiing is varied and there's a lot of off-piste available without much hiking. Pistes groomed very well, even when the resort was packed on New Years Eve, the little resort next door Dobrinishte was much quieter and is very very pretty. We had great food and service in Chalet Rozov and we loved the old town. I am planning another trip this year.

A good venue for early season skiing accessible via easy driving with plenty of accommodation. Not sure I would go there for more then 3/4 days but when you need to go high early/late in the season it's well worth a visit. Not great for beginners as the blue runs on the glacier are only really accessible via reds. Good fast cable cars all the way up but you'll spend more time on T-bars than chairlifts after that.

Mellau is linked with Damuls and has good selection of lifts and runs. Further resorts in the valley can be accessed by a free bus. The 4 person gondola in Mellau was prone to queuing at peak times and a walk to a T-bar was required at the top. Not snow sure so check conditions are OK before you go. No English spoken at ski school and very few Brits in resort. Would recommend Hotel Engel for accomodation.
