Popular ski resort reviews

Just back from a week in La Thuile. Nice village, good selection of restaurants and bars. The nightlife is quieter than some resorts, but I went with a large group so we had fun anyway. Good selection of slopes for beginners to advanced. Black no 3 definately worth a try (73% gradient).! woohoo! You can also nip over the French side to La Rossiere. Skiing is nice there too. I fully recommend this resort to anybody, especially families and large groups...you can make your own evening…

Holidayed here for about 5 years in the late 80s and early 90s, last in 1993 and then againn last year. I remeber when there were only 2 (single ) chair lifts to the middlestation (on the sites of the present Hocchmoos express and the gondola and aonly on single chairlift to the topstation. The was no grubig alm piste! How things have changed. The biggest loss is the nursery slope in front of the Hotel Tyrol, but the new apartment block will have direct acess to the remaining nursery…

A lovely, quiet resort with efficient lifts and good snow the week we were there. We had a great time. There is a variety of runs, including gentle blues for beginners and some challenging blacks. However, the only runs to the village are red and black, so beginners have to use the gondola. Not much nightlife, avoid this place if you are a raver!
