San Cassiano is an undiscovered gem - i love it. It is a small traditional village with access to miles and miles of skiing. I just love the Dolomites and San Cassiano is a delightful gateway to the masses of skiing around the Sella Ronda. You can ski over to Arabba...and the Marmolda glacier and if you've set off early enough countinue round the whole of the Sella Ronda circuit. Skiing in Champoussin is best for intermediate skiers, with easy half-day access to a good variety of blue and red runs and a couple of black, between Les Crosets and Morgins. There are also short and highly visible off-piste areas. Go out for the day, and you have the full Portes de Soleil in reach. Nowhere in Champoussin is more than 100m from the piste. There are plenty of easy blue routes for relative novices, but also red and black routes for the experienced. With a ski bus running to the bottom of the down-hill slopes, and to the other side of the fell, you can all ski in the morning on easy routes, then those who have had enough can bus back whilst the others ski more demanding routes back.
