Picturesque Les Houches. Very pretty skiing amongst the trees with magnificent views of the Mont Blanc chain. Great choice of on-piste eateries for all budgets. For a treat Les Vieilles Luges restaurant: a charming old alpine farm is a must. Delicious home cooked dishes, yummy desserts and heartwarming spiced wine simmering on the wood fire. Bookings a must. Whilst skiing the Chamonix valley it is worth skiing in Les Houches a day just for Vieilles Luges! Its included in the Mont Blanc unlimited pass and just a bus ride from Chamonix.

There is enough skiing on a local Les Houches pass for a week for beginner and intermediate skiers. The slopes are generally wide with beautiful views on the Chamonix valley and the Mont Blanc Massif. Les Houches is a great skiresort for young families. There are several cosy mountain restuarants scattered on the slopes.
Les Houches is easily accessible from Geneva airport by mini-van transfer (1 hour).

Family/child friendly No negative aspects!

Les Houches was quiet as were the pistes so there was plenty of room. The skiing was great and is better suited to early intermediates. I found the blue slopes were a bit too narrow and icy for beginners though. The pistes conditions were o.k. The kandahar run was brilliant and would probably be the only reason I would go back as it was probably the most enjoyable run I've ever done. I would recommend this resort for a long weekend as it's only about an hour and a half from Geneva airport at most.

Les Houches is an excellent resort for families, it has big wide slopes, not busy, very little queuing, if any and a good mix of runs so beginners and intermediates get a challenge and a men's downhill black run. The scenery is quite fantastic. The town is quiet, but we've found restaurants we like, enough for a couple of night's out. Nearby Chamonix provides more apres ski activities. Lift pass includes bus to the lifts so not too much walking in your ski boots.

Limited nightlife Wide slopes

Stayed in Les Houches in January 07 for 5 nights with two of our children who were beginners. Very busy but well organised ski school. Wouldnt recommend skiing in Les Houches if you are intermediate or above. We spent two of our days skiing here, which was more than enough. However, there is very good transport links to the remainder of the Chamonix valley which will keep all abilities adequately occupied.
