Semmering is the highest mountain on the eastern edge of the Alps situated in Styria and the largest ski area in eastern Austria. Compared to other Austrian skiresorts Semmering Stuhleck is a fairly small skiarea. Its low altitude does it make vulnerable. A charming village with a good choice of accommodation and restaurants. Kaprun is the friendliest place we have been to in Austria, the locals can do enough to help and make you feel very welcome. We loved the lively apres-ski bars in Kaprun at the bottom of the Maiskogel and the Pavilion in the centre, both with great atmosphere, lively crowds and friendly staff. Andalo, with its neighbouring resort of Fai della Paganella share the Paganella ski area, which has been fully modernised with new quad chairlifts and almost complete snow making coverage.
