The ski area is heaven for intermediate and advanced skiers, however youll find better resorts if you want beginner slopes. There is some nice skiing on the Grand Motte glacier for intermediates as well as the slopes around the Aiguille Percee in Tignes. A charming village with a good choice of accommodation and restaurants. Kaprun is the friendliest place we have been to in Austria, the locals can do enough to help and make you feel very welcome. We loved the lively apres-ski bars in Kaprun at the bottom of the Maiskogel and the Pavilion in the centre, both with great atmosphere, lively crowds and friendly staff. Zell am see is a beautiful spot with gentle skiing - perfect for older skiers like us and very good for families with young children! There is just enough for the kids to learn in safe conditions! You can even ski on the glacier in nearby Kaprun. although we never have. Apres-ski was quieter than we expected but this suits us just fine.
