Latest ski resort reviews

Stayed in Verbier during mid-Mar 2008. The town is busy and buzzy. The nightlife is good but downmarket. The slopes were green down low but white up top. The on-piste skiing is surprisingly average and unchallenging. In contrast, the off-piste is outstanding. Steeps, couloirs and huge moguls can be found around every corner. The lift system is wholly inadequate for such a famous resort. Huge lines and long waits were commonplace during weekends and peak times. In summary, Verbier comes…

I went to Tignes from 3-10 of April and was amazed with the snow and resort itself. Tignes is not ugly as everybody is saying: pure concrete and stuff. There is no concrete as such, purpose built blocks are covered in wood and white facade and when looked from afar is impressive (those buildings work well with peaks surrounding them). Anyway, with global warming, in order to save space, we will see more of those as the skiing area shrinks. Snow is brilliant; plenty of it everywhere.…

Het skigebied bij Lech en vooral Zürs is ontzettend mooi. Het maken van de (deels ongeprepareerde) skiroute de Weisse Ring is qua natuurschoon een absolute aanrader. De pistes zijn goed onderhouden, de mensen zijnzeer gastvrij en vriendelijk. Het is mooi en sfeervol skiën in Oostenrijk, zonder dat de après-ski herrie je overal tegemoet schalt. Een (onverwacht) nadeel vonden wij de enorme drukte in het gebied, terwijl wij er in het laagseizoen waren. Wij hebben meerdere malen…
