While Filzmoos does not have an enormous ski area there are several other resorts just down the valley that are included on your lift pass and my 2 favourites are Zauchensee and Flachauwinkl, both of which give you access to a large linked area. In all the years I have been going there I have never experienced a lack of snow and there have been some years when there has been so much that we have wondered if we would be able to get out of the village! In Filzmoos things are fairly quiet at night but apres-ski at the Happy Filzmoos is not to be missed! The slopes in Filzmoos are superb for families, intermediate skiers and begginers. With no Black runs it means that the whole mountain is a joy to explore. The pistes are wide yet varied and were kept in great condition. One of the high points are the mountain top cafes. They are traditional wood, and the staff are excellent. For those who enjoy an elevenses of gluwein or hot chocolate, and lunch of cracking goulash, this is the resort to go to. Cant wait to go back!

Enjoyed the blues and reds, and found the skiing interesting although limited. Easy access to Flachau on the 9.30am postbus on Tuesdays,Wednesdays and Thursdays. Free with area lift pass, and excellent skiing. Loved all the mountain restaurants and found the staff very friendly. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. Spent many happy hours in the Happy Filzmoos at the bottom of the Nursery slopes. Also loved the Alt Filzmoos/Faikerwirt in town. We were impressed with the village's excellent beginner facilities and family friendly nursery area.

Great little village and ski area. The village itself is charming and the locals are friendly. Perfect place to learn skiing, slopes are mostly blue with some reds so its relatively easy skiing all over. Been there 3 times now and loved it each time. Snow has always been plentiful as well, apart from this year (as with all of the Alps), but they made brilliant use of what they had and nothing was closed. Eating is all reasonably priced and the food is great. there are many good hotels in the village and all are within close range to a lift/the lifts. My family and I have been going to Filzmoos for the last eighten years staying at the family run hotel Alpenkrone. It is a a superb holiday resort. it caters for absolute beginners to the intermediates. Although it does have a lot of runs it can be limited for the more adventurous but a quick bus ride to flachau or one of the neighbouring resorts will allow everyones needs to be catered for. The hotel is owned by the hamshire family and they are related to the actress Susan Hampshire. You can book direct (which is cheaper) or go thru Inghams and book a package deal.
