Took four total beginners with me. Big mistake totally unsuitable for the first time skier. No nursery slopes at top of cable car, have to walk down a steep slope with skis for 200 metres and walk back up a huge hill until you are good enough to ski down. Otherwise for the intermediate/advanced its awesome, links with Avoriaz are great and the skiing over the mountain is awesome, off piste powder was a pure delight and we never even scratched the surface of the Portes Soleil in a week.…

I've been going to Val Gardena for the past six years along with the same people and it's sort of grown into a "second home from home", except at 3200 metres. Val Gardena must be one of the most beautiful places to go snowboarding. Fieberbrunn is a fantastic place, for both adults and kids alike, we had some reservations about taking the family, but we are very glad we did. The ski school is fantastic (choice of 2) my 5 year old son ended up in a group with only one other skier, and the instructor spoke very good English and was very friendly to the kids - brilliant. The locals are very friendly both on the slopes and in the bars, but you will have to know some German to get by, as there is very little English…
