The resort seems geared towards intermediates, loads of red runs on 4 separate mountains, plus the Dachstein glacier a bit further away. Great, full of character mountain restaurants, very reasonably priced (5-9 euros for a main course). When we were there, buckets of snow fell, which made for great powder off-piste, through the trees skiing. In more regular conditions, I might have felt a bit bored as a more advanced skier. Just been to Meribel. First 2 days of skiing on Friday and Saturday before the hoards arrived were really good but then, besides the 9-10am slot and then the 12h30-2pm lunch slot, the crowds took over on our last 2 days. Couple of really good runs like Combe Vallon and The Face if you got their early in the morning. No serious off piste to speak of due to lack of fresh snowfalls and us being beaten to the punch earlier in the week. The really ridiculous thing though was the cost of…

Schladming was a wonderful skiing experience in every way. This not so well know resort in the Eastern Alps is much larger than it appears. Each mountain is a nice size in itself but add the four link mountains together and you have a week of exploring to do. The ski runs are extremely well groomed. Restaurants are everywhere. A great excursion is to rodel at night at Hoch Wurchen. A wonderful rodel piste with a small restaurant at the top by the name of Hoch Wurchen Alm. The glacier…
