The pistes are perfect for beginners and intermediates and it's a great place to learn to board. Ellmau is part of the Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser, but it is not the best starting point. The town is lovely and picturesque - perfect for romantic evenings for two! Also, a very good resort for young families.

The range of skiing was fine for advanced/intermediates with a good range of runs and off-piste - however this gets tracked out very quickly. Some lovely long red runs to get your quads burning. Generally minimal queues and uncrowded pistes, however, there were certain times and locations with huge queues - avoid anything near ski school meeting places. Brillient family skiing including off piste. Recommended. Not over subscribed and often quiet in the week, getting busier at the weekend. Ski school have English speaking instructors. and is easy to book, often availability on the day. Approx 35 euros per hour. Downside is that there is no apres ski in Arcalis as there is no village there. We stay in the village El Serrat a few Km below.
