Latest ski resort reviews

We have experienced the superb snow record in les contamines for the last ten years and it has become reknown for good snow when other higher resorts have failed. the resort has never failed to impress us with the superb mixture of pistes for all abilities and amazing variety of off piste. it is not a high mileage resort but quality counts. a real bonus is that the local people are much more friendly than other resorts we have visited.

Chamonix is one of my favorite global ski areas and i have skied there ten times. the scenery is just awesome, the best in europe, other perhaps than zermatt. the town provides a taste of france, with some lovely architecture, squares and sculptures, split by a fast flowing river, and it has a wide variety of hotels and restaurants. the skiing is varied since there are five major ski stations along the valley. the best ski station by far is le grand montet, with its 6,700 foot vertical…

Val thorens is high so it has the best snow conditions of les trois vallees. it also has excellent skiing on a variety of long runs with large vertical s and the opportunity to ski on a glacier. i prefer to stay at mottaret because it is in the middle of les trois vallees with easy access to val thorens, courchevel and the other ski stations. however, in a lean snow year i would stay at val thorens to maximize the chance for good conditions.
