Ive just got back from Les Contamines, which was a great resort for intermediate type ski-ing with a reasonable amount of variety and holding its snow well, especially compared to neighbouring resorts. Mainly French people (or possibly from Geneva too) and quite a few Dutch, but not many English voices! Megève has to be one of the best kept secrets around and I would highly recommend a trip there during the coming season for all the family. Megève is about 1 hrs drive from Geneva International Airport. The skiing is super and caters for all levels from beginner to expert, and even in bad weather you can still ski as there are the trees all around. I was pleasantly surprised by my visit. The town is quite large and is a favorite with the well to-do of Milan and Rome as evidenced by the large amount of expensive SUV/4 wheel drive vehicles on display. Also the ladies like to parade their extravagant fur coats during the evening "Passagiatta". Most of the accommodation is in hotels, of which there is a large selection.
