Latest ski resort reviews

We went to the gastein valley for the last week of the UK season for this resort. Although some of the runs were worse for wear, we experienced huge dumps of snow and were able to ski almost all pistes. The pretty resort of Bad Hofgastein really sold me. It had cosmopolitan shops bars and eateries. Beautiful gardens and thermal springs in central squares. Quiet village, pistes nowhere near as crowded as they are in neighbouring Alpe d'Huez. Some great reds (esp.Les Rousses)and a nice black called La Fare that can be a bit tricky when the snow is thin (it goes down to 1100m). There's some safe and relatively gentle off-piste ski-ing through the trees above Montfrais - and some much more challenging stuff off the Dome (2800m). Gruss Gott im Annaberg. Een gemoedelijk dorp waar de klok qua goede dingen 30 jaar stil is blijven staan. De achterdeur blijft open, je kan je ski's overal laten staan, je wordt snel geholpen als er wat aan is gebeurd (huurski's). Het is allemaal nog redelijk betaalbaar en niet echt druk bij de liften en op de pistes. Hause Alpenrose is een mooi pension waar je echt in de watten gelegd wordt door de Fam. Oberauer.
