Pila has had a lot of investment since my last vist in 2006, new cable car to Aosta. Snow conditions fantastic, best for 20 years according to locals, 250cm at top, 150cm in village, had more snow on Xmas day, rest of time was sunny, but very cold on Fri and Sat, -10 both days, Stunning views from Mont Blanc to Matterhorn. Les Arcs well what can i say its a wonderful resort, very modern and filled with inspiring sking. Its linked to La Plagne, the Paradiski area which offers a massive 425kms of pistes. Les Arcs has 4 self-contanined villages at different heights. Its a brilliant resort for all types of skiers from brand new beginners to well advanced skiers, for those who want to board its also a fab resort. Wicked snow during Christmas. I am an intermediate snowboarder and loved it. Off-piste was up to my waist and amazing on most runs, red 27 being out of this world for fresh tracks all day long. The night life at Mayrhofen was excellent. New Scotland Yard is a must as well as Mo's and Aproco. If you are a boarder then just go and remember red 27. If you get a lucky dump, you will never forget the super fast floaty powder; it's what dreams are made of.
