Latest ski resort reviews

I had the chance to ski Saalbach on April 4th/5th. Every groomed slope was open but (of course), most off piste was (understandably) marked OB. Some very good long runs that will KILL your legs. Decent reds and a black or two. Lots of easy Blue runs. Weather was freezing at night and in the 50's during the day. Morning is pretty decent but the conditions turn to slush by 2pm so get the skiing in early. Very family-oriented resort but can also serve the party crowd.

Because of its high altidude, 2100m, Tignes is almost guaranteed snow. Split into two main centres, Val Claret (mainly appartment blocks) and Le Lac (more chalets), Tignes comprises a vast ski area for the more advanced skiier. Ruka is a amazing! It is situated in the unspoilt wilderness 60km south of the Artic Circle and 20 kms west of the Russian border. This is Finlands premier ski resort. Its got a short 25 minute transfer from Kuusamo airport to the center of the resort, perfect for people not keen on travelling or for families.
