Stayed (late March 07) in Hotel Splendid - high end of resort and just uphill from Clotes chairlift, in good conditions there is a skiable cut-through comes out opposite. Nice hotel, friendly staff but disappointing food. Very attractive ski area but not so good piste maintenance - we arrived to heavy snow after several weeks of none so the links had been closed. By day 3 we were ready to explore new terrain but despite wonderful powder, the links were still not open. Day 4-5…

The skiing is spread over three areas - Melezet, Jafferau and Campo Smith, the main area where the base facilities are located. The resort itself is at 1312m with the skiing extending up to 2750m at the top of Jafferau and a total of 140km of pistes, the majority of which are intermediate. The main beginner slopes are on the lower slopes of Campo Smith and Melezet which are fully lift linked. Snow cannons ensure good snow cover both at the beginning and end of the season. These areas…

Excellent resort for families, snow good at mid station and above, often soft on resort runs in afternoon. Red runs below Ranfoilly lifts had best snow cover when we were there in Feb 07. Huge queues at Chevannes lift when ski lessons started, not too bad everywhere else. Fantasic views towards Mont Blanc from top of Ranfoilly, lovely long blue run ideal for families from top station to resort, at least 9km, ok even for beginners or young children.
