The Hintertux glaciar is a great location for autumn and late spring/early summer skiing with excellent ski lift system and good restaurants. It can be quite cold on the upper slopes with the possibility that the ski lifts to the top are shut down in extreme weather but given the height, 3000 metres +, that is understandable. Found Risoul to be the most underrated place I have visited. Never waited more than a couple of minutes for any lift. We were also spoilt by the very good snowfalls that preceded our stay. The ski area offers a great selection of runs and the linked resort of Vars is easily reached and well worth visiting, something I did daily. I found it best to go to the sunny slopes of Vars in the morning and Risoul in the afternoon.

Ortisei is not the best resort for families with (little)children; it\'s skiarea is divided into two areas (Seiseralm and Col Raiser). It has (indirect) access via Col Raiser to Selva and Sella Ronda, but it takes a few lifts and an underground train to get there. The Seiseralm just above Ortisei is suited for children, but does not provide many challenging slopes. It is however a nice part to learn to ski or enjoy nature.
