Zell am See was beautiful! Zell is a small ski area but well worth a visit. The lake was frozen and could be walked and skated on. if you're more than a beginner you'll want to go to Kaprun (lovely powdery runs, awful bus trip) or Saalbach (bus trip costs 7euro and you need to get the super ski pass to cover the whole area but well recommended). There are some great runs around Laax and at least two super snowparks near Nagans. If you're riding a snowboard, you should avoid the back of the mountain near Vorab and Fuorcla. When I was there the snow was soft and deep so which is great, but forget crossing from that side to Nagans in those conditions. The resort is very nice. There was good snow, some areas a little icy but im a boarder so love the powder but on some slopes full of the fluffy stuff. depends on the run suppose. Good access to all runs and the area Portes du Soleil so lots of slopes to choose from. The lifts are generally in good working order and queues are correspondingly small - especially given all those pistes.
