The most beautiful slopes is the catchword they use here to describe the location. I consider that true to a great extent. During our stay the slopes were always well-prepared. The quality was better than for the nearby Planai/Schladming ski resort. The slopes under Almlift and HofiExpress are ideal for beginners and children, the only downside is need to use narrow connecting ways to get there. Numerous hutten for lunch with good service.

I spent 6 days staying in the Hotel Hochfilzer (which I would highly recommend) in mid February 06. The Ellmau schischule, which is situated at the foot of the Astberg mountain, is fantastic with a range of fluent English speaking easy-going staff who are extremely capable skiers/snowboarders. Although the resort is not famed for being snow sure, this particular time the area was covered with powder in abundance. The ski demo on Thursday nights was also worth seeing!

My family and I have just returned from a week in Zell am See 1st - 8th March 2008, the resort was compact and picturesque with a varied and family friendly apres ski scene. We stayed half board in the Hotel Heitzman a small family run hotel, with a friendly atmosphere, great rooms and first class food. Rudi and Anitta Heitzman and all their staff could not do enough to help make our holiday as enjoyable as possible. As for the skiing, it's great, catering for all level of skier well…
