Popular ski resort reviews

I went to Gargellen in 2006 and decided to go back in 2007. I was originally disappointed last year with the lack of on-piste skiing, but now, i've found the magic of the place. It is all about Gargellen's off -piste and ski touring areas. I spent the week with a group and a guide and we skied some spectacular off piste . Needless to say i'm going back this Easter for a third trip! My point about the ski school - last year i was supposed to be in an advanced mixed English German group.…

We have skied Gargellen three winters and hiked two summers. It is a great place with lots of fine intermediate skiing up the main lift from the town. It is a small village at the end of the road. Not much night life, so be prepared to entertain yourselves in the evening. Relaxed area, not hectic. The mountain huttas have the classic Austrian atmosphere. For more variety you can go down the road to the larger Silveretta Nova and Schruns areas.

Small and quiet especially in the evening. Fantastic for a short break, great snow when i went in March, quiet even at the weekend. Great place for families - lovely atmosphere. Skiing excellent for beginner and intermediates. Good snow as very high and renowned for good snow. 7 or 8 off piste ski routes which were a lot of fun! Only heard 2 other English voices all weekend. You can even ski mountaineer to Switzerland if you wish!
