This is a perfect skiresort for beginners and intermediate skiers. unfortunately you cant ski all the way down to mayerhofen. the last few years the number of slopes expanded fast, with connections now to hippach and towards tux. mayerhofen, as many other resorts in ziller valley, is very popular with the dutch. dont be surprised if you hear dutch music in the apres-ski bars! anyway it is a very nice resort to stay.

As a seasoned skier, i have visited some fantastic resorts over the years, but there is no where quite like mayrhofen for hospitality. the main ski area for mayrhofen is the penken, which can be reached by gondala from mayrhofen centre (a five minute walk in ski gear from both the kramerwirt and the appartments of uli spiess). the ski area is great for both beginners and seasoned skiers with a variety of terain. my only criticism of the penken is that the runs are quite short, therefore i would also recommend spending a day or two skiing in zell am ziller (the next resort down the valley) which is both vast and just a cheap cab or bus ride away. as for apri ski, it really doesn get any bet
