I like Gerlos resort and its slopes because they have a very laid back, relaxed atmosphere to them. Many of the slopes are sunny throughout the day, the views are great, so you can cruise on the slopes, then sit back, sunbathe and enjoy the view, then ride some more. Gerlos is a very nice place to take a relaxing "break" after riding some more demanding Zillertal slopes, like Hintertux.

We were pleasantly surprised by what we found in Gerlos and the Zillertal Arena and I will try and sum up our experience by listing the positives and negatives. To give it some context, we are in our early thirties and are advanced skiers.
Positive aspects:
Gerlos sits at the centre of the largest linked ski area in the Zillertal. From Gerlos, you can access about 150km of pistes in Gerlos, Zell and Koenigsleiten. This would satisfy most skiers for a week, although I did find myself wanting new challenges by day 5 or 6. There is a mixed terrain, with plenty of reds for the intermediate skier to enjoy. Gerlos is at relatively high altitude by Austrian standards (1250m) so the snow is prett

It was elected to one of the best skiing areas of the world. The slopes are very nice. They are very wide and you have all steps of difficulty. The area also offers many opportunities for freeriding, touring, bobsleighing and skating. So there are opportunities for everyone from the beginners to the experts. The area is huge so it takes quite a long time to get to know all the area. 3 different towns are connected to the area so you will probably see a different opportunity to stay in another hotel for the next year, Zillertal is also famous for its close living to the nature therefore you will also get very good local food. Also the town is very nice and also in the evenings you won´t get b

I think his area is a really very good choice for making skiing holidays.
